What is NAS?
NAS stands for Network Attached Storage. As opposed to standard external hard drives, NAS storage devices are connected either wirelessly or directly (hard wired) to an internet router and therefore a local network. The connection of a NAS to a local network allows users in that network to connect directly to the storage installed in the NAS device.
Various NAS enclosures are available, however they vary dramatically in their form factor from small single drive NAS servers to multiple drive RAID capable storage NAS servers that allow for better data security.
