What is RAID?
RAID stand for Redundant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks. Various RAID standards exist, but all rely upon "striping" of data between drives with varying degrees of "redundancy" (effectively how many times data is backed up between drives). For home users the most likely RAID technology to be used is RAID-1, which writes all data to two (or more) drives ensuring that in the event of a failure data is still securely held on one (or more) drive.
